Job Title: Quality/Food Safety Manager As the Quality/Food Safety Manager, you will ensure food safety and quality by implementing and maintaining programs that comply with FSMA, HARPC, HACCP, and PCQI standards. Your responsibilities include managing safety documentation, conducting hazard analyses, overseeing sanitation procedures, and verifying daily safety practices such as GMP inspections, environmental monitoring, and pest control. You'll also manage ingredient databases, generate nutrition labels using ESHA Genesis R&D, and ensure compliance with FDA, MDA, and OSHA regulations. Your role will be key in maintaining product safety and quality while supporting workplace safety standards.
Responsibilities Develop, Maintain, and Enforce Food Quality & Safety/Assurance Programs:
Implement food safety standards to comply with FSMA, HARPC, HACCP, PCQI, and potential SQF certification. Food Safety Documentation:
Conduct hazard analysis of products and processes. Develop and manage food safety programs and policies, including: Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Allergen SOPs. Process control policies and procedures. Food defense programs. Manage incoming materials, including supplier approvals, food safety documentation, and COA review. Ensure documentation compliance. Provide training documents and respond to customer document requests. Maintain proficiency in Word and Excel. Routine Food Safety Verification Activities:
Complete daily production schedules and work orders. Log weekly activities and conduct GMP inspections. Perform environmental monitoring and ingredient testing. Inspect incoming cream and apples. Oversee pest control, including liaison responsibilities and routine checks (e.g., insect lights, glue boards, traps). Ingredient Database:
Maintain and update ingredient specification sheets and the ingredient database. Manage databases for retail stores and wholesale ingredients. Nutrition Facts:
Use the ESHA Genesis R&D labeling program to generate nutrition facts. Compliance with Regulatory Authorities (MDA/FDA):
Assist with inspections, recalls, and biannual food facility registration. Sanitation Supervisor:
Supervise sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. Assist with Workplace Safety (OSHA):
Assist in OSHA recordkeeping and workplace safety compliance. Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment. Proven experience with FSMA, HARPC, HACCP, and food safety/quality assurance programs. Experience in regulatory compliance (FDA, MDA), sanitation processes, and workplace safety (OSHA). Technical Skills Proficiency with food safety documentation and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with food safety verification activities such as GMP inspections and environmental monitoring. Experience using the ESHA Genesis R&D labeling program for nutrition fact generation. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
