Minnesota Children's Museum is looking for outgoing, engaging people who enjoy interacting with children and adults, ages 0-100, to join our team as part time Program Facilitator. In this role you will be responsible for enhancing the visitors' experience in The Studio gallery and running pop-up programs throughout the museum. This position is responsible for all parts of the program experience, from welcoming visitors to the space, encouraging exploration and learning, to maintaining the space for all visitors to use.

NUMBER OF OPENINGS: 2

PAY: $17.25 per hour

SCHEDULE: 20-25 hours per week.

Must be available to work at least 2 Weekdays per week and at least 2 Weekends per month.

Must be available to work on federal holidays when the museum is open to the public.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Facilitate art activities in The Studio (art space)

Actively engage with visitors by greeting them, introducing the activity, and inviting them to engage with the activity. Reset the space as needed so incoming visitors have a fresh place to play. Prepare and restock exhibit and program supplies as needed to ensure all visitors can fully participate. Help scaffold children's learning by using appropriate prompts and encouragement (training provided by museum). Facilitate pop-up programs around the museum. Set up materials and signage in designated space. Actively invite children to participate in the activity. Customize interactions to meet each visitor's needs. Maintain spaces for visitors to use. In The Studio, this could include things like wiping down tables, rinsing brushes, sweeping, etc. Report any exhibit or maintenance needs to the appropriate department. Provide excellent customer service to all visitors. Answer questions about the exhibits and the museum. Direct crowds when needed, supervise lines, and encourage turn-taking. Respond to safety needs, including reuniting lost parties, finding lost property, responding to door alarms, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent. 1 year of experience working or volunteering with groups of children and adults in an educational or recreational setting. IDEAL CANDIDIATE Ability to work well with people in general, and to work effectively and comfortably in a variety of settings - from busy to slow. Ability to follow directions, work independently and complete tasks and communicate in an effective manner. Commitment to continued learning for both personal and team growth. Skill in finding and completing additional tasks when assigned work is completed. Daily interest and enthusiasm for working with children, youth, and multi-generational groups.
